Double Eagle M84 Review - The Best Airsoft M92 Pistol

Double eagle airsoft has done it again with a great airsoft replica of the Beretta M92 Pistol. The Double Eagle M84 Airsoft Electric Pistol is the latest in the series from Double Eagle. The first thing you'll note when you take it out of the box is the realistic weight and balance of this Airsoft pistol. It's upper metal receiver looks and feels like the real thing. The lower receiver and handgrips are made out of solid ABS plastic, which was hard to distinguish from metal. The overall build of this airsoft electric pistol is tight, with little to no wobble (slight wobble detected on upper receiver, but very minor). The plastic parts are very solid and accurately designed with virtually non-existent seams. The visible markings on the Gun are the Double Eagle logo on the hand grips, and Made-in-China near the front of the pistol.

The upper receiver removes easily by pressing in the accurately placed and functioning disassembly latch. Once open you'll see the battery housing, brass barrel, and adjustable hop-up wheel. The 7.2V 500maH Ni-mH battery removes easily by lifting the spring loaded battery ejection tab. Re-insertion after a 2-3 hour charge on the included wall charger is done by pressing the battery back into its housing. The battery fits snuggly and does not rattle once installed. With the battery installed the Double Eagle M84 is a well balanced airsoft pistol, and feels great in your hand. There is a non-functional moveable hammer, another example of the excellent attention to detail Double eagle put into the M84 airsoft pistol.

Loading the removable metal magazine is a snap with the included syringe-style speed loader (included). The magazine is easily dropped by pressing the magazine release button. Unlike the real steel it's only one sided, but functions accurately. You can quickly and easily load the magazine 3-times with the filled speed loader. This airsoft pistol has three fire modes: safe, Semi-Auto, and Full-Auto. Rates of fire are pretty respectable on full-auto, but don't expect the 27-round magazine to last more than a second or two. This airsoft pistol is best fired on semi-Auto. With a muzzle velocity chrono'd in our lab around 190-200 FPS (using .20 gram airsoft BBs), With .12g BBs the muzzle velocity is over 210 FPS, but you sacrifice accuracy after about 25 feet. this pistol is accurate up to about 30-40 feet using .2g BBs. We were able to maintain a 50-cent piece, sized grouping at 25-feet. From 40 feet accuracy degrades quickly, but it's a handgun, not made for long range targeting. Accuracy was a bit less with .12g, but if used for a Close Quarters weapon or sidearm either weight will be adequate.

The Double Eagle Airsoft M84 Electric pistol comes with the standard BB starter pack (toss them and go with good grade .12g or .20g BBs), a 7.2v/500maH rechargeable battery, wall charger, and removable silencer. The silencer is cool, but seems to be an "Easy to break" point of failure once installed. We recommend removing it for field play as it's for asthetic purposes only. Double eagle also provides the standard, somewhat amusing "Chine-English" Manual. One thing nice about this manual is the back cover has a detailed "exploded-view" which makes dis-assembly and reassembly easier.

Overall, for the price, and compared to other M92 Airsoft replicas, this is a great pistol for the price! It makes a great skirmish side-arm or close quarters Battle weapon. Extra magazines are available for this gun, and we recommend getting one or two to keep the BBs going in tight situations.
